About NWCL

The NorthWest Cricket League (NWCL) was founded in early 1995 through the efforts of a handful of dedicated individuals. Their love for the game was motivation enough to put in hours of hard work and travel in meeting together and formulating a sound organizational base for the league. The founding clubs were, Beaverton CC, Microsoft CC, Multnomah CC (then named Lake Oswego CC), Portland (then named Star CC), Seattle CC, and WSU CC. These clubs had existed and played friendly matches against one another in years prior to the formation of the league. But, the formation and existence of the NWCL gave them the structure and opportunity to enhance the amount and level of cricket played in the Pacific Northwest.

Through the years since its inception, NWCL's existence has been punctuated by ups and downs, but it has survived and become stronger. Change has been one constant mantra in the league. The competition format has changed almost every year. The By-laws, which form the cornerstone for the administration of the league, have been overhauled a couple of times and continue to be modified every now and then. Most of the teams in the league have changed the fields that they play. Indeed, the league has yet to crown a repeat Champion team!

Nevertheless, the league has grown with the addition of more new clubs in the last couple of years, Indopak CC, Gresham CC, King County CC and DrugStore CC, and an increased membership roster of the veteran clubs. In the most recent season there were 12 total teams in the league. As we go to press there is talks of at least 4 more clubs interested in joining the league. The future of cricket in the Pacific North West looks bright!!
