Bowling highlights:
Vijay Sundaresan 2/33 | |
Man of the match:
Phani Chitneni from Redmond Colts | | Other notables
• Redmond Colts elected to bowl after winning the toss and started posing questions to Chak De’s opening batsman with the swinging ball. Phani got dangerous Tarun Juneja in 4th over of the game caught behind by Venkata Phani. Vikas got Naveed Iqbal run out with brilliant piece of work in the filed.
• Vijay Sundaresan played well with aggressive intent and very quickly added 66 runs with Badri who himself was playing an excellent innings with quick singles and some gorgeous shots over the ropes when given room.
• Vijay fell going for a big one in Pravin’s bowling with Venkat Reddy taking a fine catch in deep covers. Varun joined Badri and they started ticking the scoreboard with excellent running between the wickets adding 65 runs to take Chak De’s score to 157 in 30 overs.
• SB came in for his second spell and got Varun LBW of the first ball and Phani followed it up with another key break through when Badri tried to accelerate and holed out to long on to the sub fielder Mahesh Chava.
• Narinder Kumar and Mandar Pandit wielded the long handle to good effect and they both added 50 runs in just 36 balls and with one more quick partnership Chak De ended on 233/7 in 40 Overs. Chasing a substantial target of 234 at almost 6 runs an over, Openers Venkat(s) started cautiously and added 25 runs with help of few good boundaries in 6 overs before Venkata P fell to Sonu Lakhanpal’s low riser.
• • Phani came to the crease and started from where he left off against Spokane in semis and with Venkat Reddy, mounted a blistering attack on Chak De and reached his 50 in 20 balls, fully utilizing the life he got in between when the ball spilled out of Narinder’s hands for a return catch. Venkat Reddy showed his classy range of shots to reach 50 and got out after adding game deciding 144 runs partnership in just 100 balls.
• Kiran fell immediately to raise few alarms. Vijay Sundaresan accounted for both the wickets with very effective slow medium pace. Soon, Phani reached his hundred with a huge six over mid wicket and his continued onslaught despite close calls evaporated any hopes Chak De had and Harold joined the party with a well timed six of his own. Phani hit a four and two sixes in a row to cross the target in just 31.4 Overs. He scored 138 in 78 balls with help of 11 sixers and 10 fours earning the MoM-Finals award.
• Redmond Colts end a very dominating and successful season by winning the Division II regular season, Earning Div promotion and winning the championship to make it a triple.
• Great team effort combined with timely contributions from all corners of the team on/off the field and from Redmond Chargers enabled this success for Redmond Cricket Club. |

Bowling highlights:
| |
Man of the match:
Tarun Juneja from Chak De Oregon | | Other notables
• Chak De Oregon captain Varun Juneja won the toss and decided to field first. Microsoft Crimsons got off to a good start scoring 39 runs in 9 overs before Sonu Lakhanpal got rid of Gaurav Gargate caught at gully by Ujwal Paidipathi off a sharply rising ball.
• Crimsons kept losing wickets at regular intervals, some of them to good balls, some of them to loose shots, and one of them to an attempt at a suicidal run, and didn’t get any good partnership going. At one point Crimsons were 129 for 8 in 32 overs, before Nipun Shah and Mahesh Thiagarajan built a 53 run partnership in less than 6 overs, with aggressive strokes, and posted a respectable total of 186.
• Chak De Oregon started their innings with Tarun and Bhadri getting off to a really good start getting 80 runs in 10 overs. Tarun drove powerfully to anything pitched up and cut sharply to anything pitched short. He scored an effortless 53 in 43 balls before he was caught by Vishwa at covers. Tarun has averaged close to 50 on the North Plains ground in all matches (NWCL and OCL) this season.
• Chak De lost two more wickets, one of Naveed Iqbal to a top edged standing paddle sweep to the leg side and the other of Mandar Pandit, OCL’s 2009 Player of the Season, who was stumped after he charged down to a flighted delivery from left armer Shadab Beg. Bhadri and Varun ensured no further hiccups as they chased down the target of 186, remaining unbeaten at the end just as they were in the last meeting between the two teams. |

| | Redmond Colts advance to Finals with a 1 wicket win over Spokane Spartans in a nerve wracking encounter. | | Saturday, September 26, 2009 | |
Match#
09-S1-II: Redmond Colts won by 1 wickets | | Ron Regis Park, Renton, WA | | Toss won by Spokane and elected to bat | | Spokane: 265 for 7 in 40 overs
Batting highlights:
H 51[77], Kishore G 39[22], Harry S 35[31], Raghu 35[46]
Bowling highlights:
Harish Krishnan[JMoM] 2/48, Simon Paola 2/46 | | Redmond Colts: 266 for 9 in 38.3 overs
Batting highlights:
Phani C 87[47], Simon P 30[32], Venkata P 29[29], Fahad H 29[33]
Bowling highlights:
Narendra Poflee 4/53, Ravi Mangipudi 2/24
Man of the match:
Pravin Deshmukh and Harish Krishnan from Redmond Colts | | Other notables
• Spokane won the toss and elected to bat on a very nice day for cricket. Umpire did not show up so Jay who was injured and not playing was forced to umpire the game. Thanks to Jay that teams were able to focus on the game.
• Spokane openers Imran and Raghu put on a excellent partnership of 66 runs in 65 balls by punishing the loose balls. Nothing troubled them until Harish Krishnan came on to bowl as second change and immediately got Raghu out with a snorter.
• Sanjay and Imran continued the good work and added 31 runs in 37 balls before Sanjay tried to follow up a sixer with another big one in bowling of Harish and Simon held on to a excellent running catch from deep extra cover.
• That did not slow Spokane CC as Harry and Imran continued adding runs with ease and were well placed at 166/2 in 26.2 overs forcing Colts to bring on the spinners. Simon and Venkata Reddy came on to bowl and immediately managed to get Imran and Harry out in successive overs. But the platform for huge score has already been laid.
• Kishore played a excellent cameo hitting the bowlers out of the bondary ropes at will and scored a quick 39 with help of four sixes before Simon got him to chase a slower one and Harish took a patent styled catch at long off. Spokane’s middle and lower order played well and took the score to 265.
• Chasing a huge target, Colts lost their first wicket in second over but Venkata Phani and Simon added 55 runs in 49 balls to keep the game even with some excellent stroke making while negotiating Sanjay Naik’s effective bowling.
• Both got out in space of 3 balls and Colts were under pressure with score at 70/3 in 10.3 Overs. Kiran and Phani played aggressively to keep the high asking run rate in check and added 44 runs in 26 balls by the time Kiran got out. In company of Usman, Phani stepped up the onslaught despite couple of dropped catches and reached his 50 in 18 balls and in process added 65 runs in 51 balls.
• Wickets started falling at regualr intervals and when Phani got out to Ravi to a good running catch by Kishore with score at 201, Colts were in trouble with only 3 wickets in hand and still needing 65 runs to win the game. Narendra Poflee bowled really well to take four middle order wickets. Required run rate was well below 5 runs per over and that allowed Fahad and Nilesh to build a careful but crucial partnership. Fahad started to open up with some wonderful strokes while Nilesh rotated the strike effectively and together they bought Colts within 20 runs of the win.
• Sanjay come in to bowl to turn the tide by getting Nilesh bowled with a in cutter and Fahad was adjudged LBW in next over leaving Colts 18 runs short of a win and only 1 wicket left.
• Pravin and Harish have performed well before when setting up targets but this was a test for them to win the game under immense pressure and they came out with flying colors with Colts holding on to their breath between deliveries and cheering every run from the match winning pair and were adjudged JMoM for their contribution with the ball and their match winning partnership. |

Batting highlights:

Batting highlights:
Shital Mehta [jMoM] 43(48), Nitin Panchal 26(68)
Bowling highlights:
Saurabh Verma 3/11 | |
Man of the match:
Sageer Anjum and Shital Mehta from Lake Washington Eagles | | Other notables
• Greens waste no time batting first. Eagles/Viraj struck in first over. Vikram was caught in covers. Keshav didn’t get the length/width he was looking for and tried to force a pull shot to Anjum. The ball came in sharply taking the bails off. Sandeep Parab got bowled round legs by Viraj to make it 3/26 for Greens.
• Anjum removed Waj next with a beautiful slower out swinger, Waj couldn’t check the shot, Samir Bhatt took a low diving catch in point. A ball later price wicket of Saurabh was picked on 0 by Anjum, when he top edged one to Digpal. Greens 5/30 in 8 Overs. Viraj/Anjum bowled the match decisive opening spell.
• After 25 run partnership between historic playoff puller Sanjay Rama and debutant sensation Arun Jayakirthy, Ketan’s decision to bring on Mark/Digpal duo paid off. Sanjay hit a sharp catch to Digpal in covers and Arun was soon picked caught behind of Digpal. Chenchu played aggressive slog sweep to make it 60/8 for Greens.
• Ravi and Harish put on 43 run, 88 ball 9th wicket partnership to keep game alive for Greens. Greens fold for 106. Eagles bowling/fielding was impressive as Greens hit 2 fours and 2 sixers in whole innings.
• Eagles lost Ashish quickly, only to bring inform Shital Mehta to the wicket. While Hiral played cautiously, Shital took on the bowling and hit 3 amazing sixers and few cracking drive and flicks to take Eagles to 50. Hiral departed to Saurabh in between but Eagles sit comfy at 57/2 in 15 overs.
• Verma did the magic again, he closed in fielding, dried the singles and constantly invited Shital with loops ball after another. Shital was bowled but not before playing game winning 43 of just 48 balls. Nitin/Mark took Eagles to 85 before Mark, Kris and Viraj fell in succession to make it 90/6. Nitin put all his experience behind to keep playing positively for his 26 runs but Saurabh brought himself on for the 3rd time to pick Nitin to make it 3 runs 3 wicket game.
• and Ketan saw Eagles home with 2 overs and 3 wickets to spare. Saurabh Verma bowled magical spell of 3/11 in 8 Overs but just fell short to produce a miraculous victory for MS Greens.
• Anjum for his wickets of Keshav/Saurabh/Waj and Shital for his game high 43 were judged joint MoM. |

| | MSCC-GREENS snatch a “Last Ball Thriller” against MSCC-REDS to storm into the FINALS | | Sunday, September 27, 2009 | |
Match#
09-S2-I: Microsoft Greens won by 1 wickets | | Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA | | Toss won by Microsoft Reds and elected to bat | | Microsoft Reds: 166 for 7 in 40 overs
Batting highlights:
Aravindh Sundaragopalan 54(107), Rajiv Nandivada 37(51)
Bowling highlights:
Saurabh 8-0-3-43, Sanjay Rama 8-1-1-18 | | Microsoft Greens: 167 for 9 in 40 overs
Batting highlights:
Keshav P 79(74), Vikram K 24(42)
Bowling highlights:
R Munshi 8-2-2-12, Aseem D 8-2-1-17
Man of the match:
Keshav Puttaswamy from Microsoft Reds | | Other notables
• What started as a sun-drenched lazy morning, ended up in a fiery chest-thumping climax. The Reds skipper, Aseem, won the toss and after much deliberation, decided to bat first.
• Aravindh was the next man in who, along with Rajiv, played quite sensibly by taking the singles and picking boundaries off width deliveries. They shared a partnership of 62 and were cruising right along until Saurabh trapped Rajiv LBW for a well made 37. Vijay and Srini played very well for 2x30+ run partnerships with Aravindh, but were spectacularly (I mean it!) caught by Saurabh and Keshav respectively. Aravindh continued to play within himself and made sure that he was there as long as he could and ended up with a very well made 54. The Reds accumulated 166 in 40 overs which was quite a good total to set on Marymoor at this time of the year. The game was evenly poised and a tough contest was on the horizon.
• The Greens opened with Keshav and Vikram who started playing their natural game from ball one. They started piling up runs at a very brisk pace and very soon were scoring at close to 7 runs an over. Keshav, especially, was playing at a different level. Anything pitched short was dispatched with utter disdain over the ropes. Every shot he played, hit nothing but the middle of his bat. Vikram was the first one to go, trying to up the pace even further off Lovekesh, who was bowling extremely well and moving the ball both ways. Score 78/1 in 12.6. Sandeep walked in, but did not stay for long as Srini trapped him plumb in front with a toe crusher. Score 87/2 in 16.6
• Next was Arun TJ. He was looking solid but he was caught ball watching off his own shot and was unfortunately run out. Score 115/3 in 21.3. Saurabh came in next and all this while, Keshav continued to slay the Reds bowling attack and kept scoring at a break neck speed.
• When the scoreboard read 119, Keshav played on a delivery from Aseem and was out for a fantastic 79 off just 74 deliveries. Score 119/4 in 22.4 overs. Keshav’s innings was truly outfield agnostic and it seemed like he was playing on a different track. But his wicket was the spark that ignited the fire in Reds and the game did a complete U –turn from there on.
• Sanjay Rama comes in to replace Keshav, but 3 deliveries later, Munshi had Saurabh caught brilliantly by Aravindh @ m/wicket. Score 119/5 in 23.1 overs. Next man in, Chenchu was out the very next ball. Munshi was on a HAT TRICK!!! Score 119/6 in 23.2 overs. Suddenly, in a span of 2 overs, Greens lost 4 wickets for 4 runs and the Reds smelt blood.
• Waj walks into this pressure cooker situation and with Sanjay, starts inching towards the final goal. Although the Reds bowlers, Aseem, Munshi, Lovekesh and Srini gave nothing away and dried up the flow of runs, Waj and Sanjay fought hard crafting a gritty 37 runs partnership in 14 overs. But just when things seemed to turn Greens’ way, Waj was run out by an inspirational piece of fielding by Azeem Khan. Score 156/7 in 37.4 overs. With just 10 more runs to go and 3 more wickets in hand, Greens still had a very good chance as Ravi B replaced Waj to partner with Rama who was batting solidly at the other end. But overs were running out very fast and Sanjay, in an attempt to deal the decisive blow (almost pulled it off with a six) was caught brilliantly by Rajiv right on the boundary line. Score 158/8 in 38.2 overs. Greens were really in a spot of bother now. 9 runs off 10 balls with 2 wickets left.
• Ravi B and Harish M added 3 more runs after that and the greens were 161/8 at the end of the 39th over. 6 runs of 6 balls and 2 wickets remaining!!!
• Greens win the game with Score 167 for 9 in 40 overs. |

Bowling highlights:
Puneet Soti 3/36, Murthy Pappu 2/26, Samarath Shah 2/31, Srikanth Sundargopalan 2/35 | | Microsoft Blues: 122 for 10 in 34.4 overs
Batting highlights:
Naveen Kumar 22(34 | |
Bowling highlights:
Mark Demos [MoM] 2/16, Digpal Sarvaiya 3/16, Shital Mehta 3/29
Man of the match:
Mark Demos from Microsoft Blues | | Other notables
• LWCC Eagles won the toss and took a bold decision to bat on a overcast condition and heavy outfield. Ashish Chokshi 15[22] gave a decent start of 43/2 in 10 overs.
• Shital Mehta and Nitin Panchal carried on from there on taking Eagles to commanding 91/2 at 20 over break. Blues bowled disciplined while these two collected runs in singles and odd boundary.
• Drinks did wonders to Greens as Murthy Pappu picked up Nitin and Viraj Desai, while Srikant got rid of Shital Mehta to take Eagles to 100/5 in 23 Overs.
• Mark Demos [JMoM] and Kris Raman started rebuilding, some cautious singles later, Mark picked on Murthy Pappu for 15 runs in an over to take Eagles to 152/5, a 52 run 6th wicket stand to set stage again for acceleration.
• Samarath Shah who bowled well but didn’t get any wickets as Shital/Nitin played him cautiously earlier, came back for his 2nd spell and picked up Mark Demos and Digpal Sarvaiya to put Ealges on caution again. However Eagles late order batsmen carried the total to challenging 194 from 161/7. Puneet Soti, Srikanth and Samarth Shah bowled well to pick up 2+ wickets each.
• Ashwin and Samarth opened for Blues. Ashwin went aggressive hitting some cracking/slashy boundaries.
